In this privacy policy, we provide information about the processing of your personal data if,
‒ you are our monthly or annual sponsor or have expressed interest in becoming a sponsor
‒ you make donations to us in other ways
‒ you act as a contact person for a donating company or other organization
‒ you have indicated that you are interested in making a bequest or have made a bequest to us
‒ you participate in competitions and prize draws organized by us
‒ you subscribe to our newsletter or other material
‒ you contact us in matters related to donations and marketing or respond to our related surveys
WWF Finland respects your privacy and ensures that your personal data is processed appropriately in accordance with the law.

2 Purpose of processing personal data
The basis for processing personal data is WWF Finland’s legitimate interest, which is based on WWF Finland’s meaningful and appropriate relationship with the person as part of WWF Finland’s donor network. WWF Finland’s legitimate interest is also based on WWF Finland’s interest in developing and growing its donor network and financing its environmental protection activities. WWF Finland processes personal data in connection with its donor network on the basis of its legitimate interest for the following purposes:
‒ Informing and communicating about WWF’s activities;
‒ communication;
‒ marketing (e.g. through the WWF magazine, newsletters, petitions, online advertising, competitions, and prize draws) and its targeting and related profiling so that we can reach people who have similar interests and characteristics to our donors;
‒ encouraging people to get involved and donate;
‒ requesting, managing, and processing donations;
‒ sending out requests for action and inviting participants to WWF Finland’s campaigns, events, and other activities;
‒ managing the relationship between the parties and the obligations arising from it;
‒ enabling the planning, implementation, maintenance, and further development of current and future events, services, and/or products; and
‒ opinion and marketing surveys.
Personal data may also be processed in order to fulfil WWF Finland’s legal obligations, such as those related to fundraising and accounting.
In addition, WWF Finland will request consent for electronic direct marketing or other individual personal data processing activities as required by law.
3 Data content of the register
The personal data we collect is mainly information you have provided to WWF Finland. WWF Finland collects personal data directly from you in the following contexts:
• when you sign up to become a monthly or annual sponsor;
• when you otherwise donate to WWF Finland (e.g. via the website, newsletter, email, text message donation, direct collection letters, or WWF’s Norppa lottery, or by setting up a fundraising page for WWF Finland’s Oma-keräys campaign or donating via a fundraising page);
• when you express your interest in bequests via the website or have made a bequest to WWF;
• acting as a contact person for a donating company or other organization (e.g., contact persons for corporate donors and contact persons for school fundraising days and WWF campaigns);
• when you participate in competitions, prize draws, and events organized by WWF Finland;
• when you subscribe to the WWF Finland newsletter or other material;
• when using WWF Finland’s products or services;
• responding to our surveys; and
• when you provide feedback to WWF Finland or otherwise contact WWF Finland.
We may also collect your information in situations where a fundraising page is created in your name for WWF Finland’s Oma-keräys campaign, or when a donation is made, for example as a gift, or when you are given a sponsorship. In addition, we may also collect your personal data from public databases or other registers to the extent permitted by law.
Only personal data that is necessary for the purposes described above is processed in connection with the donor network. Without this information, WWF Finland cannot properly carry out the administrative measures related to your donor activities and fulfil its obligations.
The following personal data may be processed in connection with the donor network:
• full name and contact information (such as postal address, email address, telephone number, and country);
• identification data (such as gender and year of birth, as well as customer and supporter number);
• other information necessary for managing the donor network relationship (such as your preferred method of contact, language skills, WWF magazine delivery method, and other necessary information related to your business (such as communication settings, direct marketing restrictions, and preferences));
• donation and payment information (such as payment method, bank account details, e-invoice address, payment card expiry date, if applicable, donation recipient, donation amount, and date);
• information about your support and participation, which we collect and process from our communications with you (such as information about our communications with you by email, text message, post, and telephone);
• profiling and interest data;
• service usage data such as permissions and consents, direct marketing restrictions;
• identifiers used for marketing targeting, donor grouping information, and other information derived from analytics;
• if you act as a contact person for a company or other organization, information about the company or other organization you work for and your title/position; and
• information necessary for the proper and successful organization of events, campaigns, and other donor network activities, participation in them, and their further development, such as, if necessary, dietary restrictions during the event.
4 Disclosure and transfer of data
WWF Finland may only disclose personal data within the limits permitted and required by applicable law. WWF Finland always strives to disclose data in a form that does not allow individual persons to be identified. As a rule, data is only disclosed with the consent of the data subject or within the group on the grounds required by data protection legislation, or to authorities when the disclosure of data is specifically provided for by law.
WWF Finland may also transfer your personal data, within the limits permitted by law, to its service providers or partners, such as the social media platforms we use for marketing.
Data may be transferred outside the European Union and the European Economic Area (for example, when service providers process personal data on behalf of WWF Finland) only in accordance with the requirements of data protection legislation, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or European Commission adequacy decisions.
5 Protection of the register and principles of data processing
When processing personal data, WWF Finland complies with the duty of care and protection obligations set out in legislation, as well as good data management practices. When processing personal data, we strive to ensure that the processing of data is justified and necessary for the purposes described.
WWF Finland and any service providers involved in the processing of personal data strive to keep personal data secure and take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, accidental or unlawful destruction, transfer, disclosure, misuse, or other unlawful processing. Only WWF Finland employees who need to process personal data for their work have access to personal data.
6 Rights of the data subject
You have the right to:
‒ access your data;
‒ request that your data be corrected or deleted, unless applicable data protection regulations require or allow the data to be retained;
‒ request the restriction of the processing of your data in certain situations;
‒ request the transfer of your data from one system to another as provided for in applicable data protection legislation; and
‒ File in a complaint with the data protection authority (Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman).
You also have the right to object to the processing of your personal data based on legitimate interest and to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes, including related profiling (see section 2 above).
If the processing of your personal data is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent.

7 Retention period for personal data
Your personal data will only be stored for as long as is necessary for the purpose of processing. The data is updated and checked for accuracy at regular intervals. During the check, all unused and outdated data is deleted.
The retention period may vary depending on the data group, and WWF Finland may be required by law to retain certain data. For this reason, the exact deletion times and deletion practices may vary. However, we always strive to delete outdated and unnecessary personal data without undue delay.
